WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE DO
History of Agency
In the late 1940s David Willbur’s parents, David Sr. and Becky Willbur, moved to Fort Pierce from West Palm Beach to begin David G. Willbur Insurance Agency. Over time the Agency grew and in the late 1950s built a new building on Orange Avenue in Fort Pierce. David Willbur Jr., the current owner, joined the Agency after military service and graduating with an MBA in insurance From Georgia State University. In a few years a 2nd building was constructed, this time on US 1 in Ft. Pierce, where the Agency operated for many years. . David Willbur Jr. sold the Agency in 2003 to Harbor Federal Savings Bank, shortly thereafter becoming President of Harbor Insurance. In 2012 David Willbur Jr began his own insurance agency again, Florida Smart Insurance LLC.

MEET OUR TEAM
David G. Willbur, Jr. CPCU
President of David G Willbur Insurance for 26 years. David G Willbur insurance was started by his parents David and Bernice Willbur. Starting in his parents’ insurance agency meant the insurance business was learned from the very basic information, and as experience and knowledge was gained, more complicated areas of the insurance agency business. In 2003 merged with a larger insurance agency and served as president of that agency. In 2011 formed Florida Smart Insurance LLC.
Formal Education includes a Bachelors degree in business from Florida Atlantic University and an MBA in insurance from Georgia State University. Has earned the professional designation Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter.
Community involvement includes multiple years as treasurer of the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce, treasurer for multiple years of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Former board member of the Gulf Stream Council Boy Scouts of America, Heathcote Botanical Gardens and Humane Society of St. Lucie County. Currently I am a secretary for Mustard Seed Ministries of Fort Pierce, and finance chair for St. Andrews Episcopal Church.
